GENERATIONS RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO, JUNE 27, 2015
Hi Folks
That time is almost here when you will be heading out for the wedding of Katie Bedard and Bryan Casey
This website has been created to assist before and during your trip for flights, transfers and to help plan your days while you are at the resort. The tabs on top will connect you to the resorts and provide full details of the restaurants and bars. There is also a tab for Excursions and Tours with full details of all the tours available - and you can actually make your bookings here in advance to save you time and effort while you are on vacation and plan your schedules in advance.
FLIGHTS:
Your E-Travel Document sent to yo will provide full details of the flights, airports etc. Please be sure to report to the check in counter at least 2 hours before the flight time - earlier if you can. On the Funjet / Aeromexico charter, you cannot check in on line since it is a charter flight and the number on your documents is only for the day of your flight. Seat assignments are made as you check in - so please go as early as you can if you want the best seating.
If you are on a commercial carrier, you can check in on line 24hrs prior to the flight time and also pay for your bags online which is usually less than the cost at the airport.
IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
All passenger traveling to Mexico must have a valid Passport through the return date. Please check your Passports now to ensure this is the case - it is not too late to get them renewed or even get a new Passport at this stage. Please check with me if you need assistance in this area.
INSURANCE
For those who have purchased the ‘All in one’ travel Insurance, you may cancel for any reason prior to departure and get a full refund less the cost of the insurance. No-shows are not covered, so if you have to cancel, please do so way in advance of your departure.
BAGS
On The Aeromexico / Funjet charter, you are allowed one free bag per person for check in - max weight is 50 lbs. and total dimension a max of 62” (length + width + height). If flying on other carriers, there is a charge which is usually around $25 per person if paid on line when you check in on line.
TRANSPORTATION
Your transportation from the airport to the hotel is included and provided by Lomas Travel. After you clear customs, do not stop at the many time share folks who will try to get your attention inside the airport - go all the way outside the airport where you will see Lomas staff in white pants, turquoise shirt and white ties. Go to any of them and they will guide you to your transfer. Here is what they look like.
TOURS AND EXCURSIONS:
I have provided a tap on top to review and make reservations for any tours and excursions you may want. Swim with the Dolphins at Maroma is a great one. Booking in advance saves you the time and hassle and you do not have to waste your vacation time while you are there to make these arrangements.
COMMUNICATION
The resort does have wifi - there is a fee associated with this - get the package for the entire trip to save money. If you are taking your cell phones along with you and do not have a ‘data plan’ with the carrier - please be sure to turn your ‘data roaming’ off before you get to Mexico. The cost for date roaming without a plan with your carrier is exorbitant and could easily run into hundreds and even thousands. Also get a long distance plan if you are going to use your phones - otherwise the costs can be as high as $6/minute.
CURRENCY
The current official exchange rate for the Mexican Peso to the US Dollar is approximately 15.4 pesos to the dollar. To get the best exchange rate you can do this at the airport or at a bank. However, it is better to just use your credit card and the card company will get you the best rate. It is not necessary to carry too much cash with you since credit cards are widely accepted - if you chose not to use a credit card, you can possible consider taking a prepaid visa or master card.
